Dr Alamin Kheir is a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist with extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with a broad range of mental-health difficulties.
He has worked at Consultant level since 2017, with experience across community CAMHS, specialist adolescent inpatient psychiatry and private practice. His clinical interests and experience include ADHD and neurodevelopmental presentations, psychopharmacology, and the assessment and management of a broad range of child and adolescent psychiatric conditions.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Kheir has substantial experience in clinical leadership, multidisciplinary care, teaching and supervision. This includes four years in a Consultant clinical leadership and supervisory role within a specialist adolescent inpatient service. He has also been a registered Clinical and Educational Supervisor with the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland since 2017.
Dr Kheir is registered in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry on the Specialist Register of the Medical Council of Ireland.
Dr Kheir takes a careful and individualised approach, considering the young person’s development, current difficulties, functioning and wider circumstances. Clinical decisions are based on comprehensive assessment, with structured tools used to support rather than replace clinical judgement.
Treatment is tailored to individual clinical needs. Where medication is indicated, it is prescribed as part of an appropriate treatment plan with face-to-face clinical monitoring and follow-up.
Dr Kheir has extensive experience in the application of mental-health legislation within Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and has provided independent expert psychiatric opinions in matters before the District Court and High Court.
He is available to consider selected instructions for independent medico-legal psychiatric assessments and reports involving children and adolescents.
